Trelawny SPT Ltd is the surface preparation equipment specialist, part of the Indutrade Group, Sweden. We manufacture a range of pneumatic tools and surface preparation equipment in the engineering heart of the UK, Leamington Spa. Established 80 years ago, Trelawny has been offering a range of equipment for preparing concrete, steel and stone.
Our surface preparation equipment and machinery is sold worldwide through a global network of quality-approved stockists and distributors.
Trelawny through the years
1945
Mr and Mrs Ough founded John Trelawny in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, to supply replacement parts for American-made tractors. Drawing on their Cornish heritage, they adopted the Trelawny name. Leveraging Mr Ough’s expertise as a civil engineer, they soon expanded into designing tools and equipment for surface preparation.
1956
Designed and developed in-house by a team led by Mr Ough, Trelawny launched the now iconic 3B Needle Gun which instantly set a new standard in innovation and quality in surface preparation.
1965
A milestone year as the company launched the 1B Needle Gun, an innovation for the industry that once again proved to be a game-changer that continues to excel in its category.
1968
Building on the success of 1B, Trelawny introduced the next evolution, the 4B Needle Gun.
1970
As the Surface Preparation area of the business continued to thrive and develop, the owners decided to fully concentrate their efforts on this sector and opted to sell its tractor spares division.
1972
The Trelawny In-line Scalers 2B model was first introduced, marking another leap forward in the company’s product line-up.
1974
Trelawny once again expanded its range by introducing the first Long Reach Scaler, designed for diverse applications.
1980
Trelawny is acquired by the Futon Group and renamed Trelawny Pneumatic Tools.
1981
This was the year that the company introduced both the single and triple-head Scabblers to our product line-up, a move that secured Trelawny as the leading manufacturer in the sector.
1984
Building on the hugely successful 2B Scaler range, the 2BPG device was put into production.
1993
With the business and our portfolio of products steadily building, this was the year Trelawny developed and introduced the TFP200 which swiftly became the company’s best-selling floor scarifier.
2000
Trelawny elevated its offerings at the turn of the millennium with the introduction of the TCG300, later rebranded as the TCG500, now recognised as the workhorse choice for contractors seeking an ultra-reliable floor grinder.
2004
Trelawny changes ownership following a successful management buyout led by long-standing employees Bill Bailey and Rob Chapman, and renamed Trelawny Surface Preparation Technology (SPT) Ltd.
2015
Now operating on a truly global scale, in order to take the business to another level, Trelawny becomes part of the Indutrade Group based in Sweden, marking a new chapter of growth and collaboration.
2021
The Trelawny brand made its debut in the Indian market, supported by a dedicated team of three employees.
2024
Managing Director Adam Dickenson is promoted, paving the way for former Sales Director Dan Rowledge to step up and assume role of Managing Director, leading the company into a new era of growth and innovation.
